Not all components are suitable for Surface mount. High voltage products, for example are normally supplied as through hole components due to their size and weight. These components require consistently good quality, cost effective joints. Wave Soldering is used to produce the required results far quicker and more consistently than they could be done by hand.

While most Wave Soldering is now unleaded there are instances when leaded solder is required. It is for this reason that Walkbury uses separate leaded and unleaded wave soldering machines. The soldermatic is used for all leaded jobs while the cms400 is used for all unleaded jobs.
